The sting which took place yesterday included the arrest of two big names in the New York crime family - the Luchese. Three bosses were arrested and a captain from the crime family.
The Attorney General for New York, Anne Milgram said of the arrests; "This has to be one of the biggest [mob takedowns] we've ever done."
The best taken included those on college football games, greyhound racing and professional sporting events such as the NBA and football.
The drug and mobile phone ring were working together with another gang, the 9 Tre Gangsters and were smuggling the contraband into a high security prison in Woodbridge.
