2009 WSOP winner joins Team PokerStars

The WSOP is the largest poker event in the world, attracting thousands of players. The annual main event takes place in Las Vegas every summer and was won last year by Peter Eastgate.

The 22 year old from Denmark beat Russian Ivan Demidov in the final heads up and took home a massive $9 million pot prize. Since his emphatic win, Eastgate has become a major celebrity in the world of poker, and can now be found at some of the biggest tournaments and games.

He also players online poker at PokerStars under the username 'PeteEasgate'. Both Easgate and Demidov will join the famous Team PokerStars which includes some of the most successful names in the game including, Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer, Joe Hachem and Daniel Negreanu.

Negreanu commented, "I've played against Ivan at the WSOPE and also watched them both closely throughout the WSOP final table – both players represent the young new rising poker talent emerging in Europe and they're a great addition to the team."

This years WSOP main event final will once again take place in Las Vegas, but it is not clear whether to final table main event will take place in November as it did in 2008.
