3 Internet Giants Settle Claim
20th December, 2007
Yahoo Inc, Google Inc and Microsoft Corp paid out £31.5 million between them to settle the claims said the US Justice Department yesterday.
The companies were said to have made money illegally by promiting online gaming companies on their sites between the years of 1997 and 2007.
Their payment will partially go to the US Government and they will also fund advertisements aimed at teenagers and children, informing them that gambling is bad.
In the settlement, Microsoft were fined the most at $12 million, Yahoo were ordered to pay $7.5 million and Google $3 million.
