American Legion Post closes
16th November, 2007
The loss of gambling revenues hit the Legion hard and as a result they can no longer afford to stay afloat.
The post in Daleville is often busy and has held many fundraising events to keep it going, but a fall in membership and the loss of revenues from gambling machines means that it will close its doors today.
The cherry master video poker machines were the bread and butter for the society and when they were removed so to was the main percentage of its revenue.
In 2006 Delaware ordered a state crack down on video poker machines and similar gambling machines and they were removed from all premises. About $4K a month was made from the machines in the Daleville post.
