Andrew Flintoff to Retire After Ashes Tests

It was announced today, that England cricketer, Andrew Flintoff will retire from test cricket after the Ashes Series is over.

Hailed as the hero of England’s successful 2005 Ashes series, Flintoff has served his country and will undoubtedly go down as one of England’s best all rounder’s.

According to Andrew Flintoff, he has been battling with many injuries and believes now is the time to stop, as his body can no longer withstand the rigours of test cricket. He also said, “It's been something I've been thinking about for a while and I think this last problem I've had with my knee has confirmed to me that the time is now right.”

Flintoff was given three injections in his knee on Monday after its latest flare-up, but is still battling to be fit for the start of the second test tomorrow.

The second Test is due to start at 11am at Lords, and will see Australia aim to repeat the first test form and beat England.

After a disappointing first test England will hope that they can put early pressure on the Aussies and not allow them to get comfortable.
