Antigua and Barbuda uhappy with UK

18th January, 2008

Antigua and Barbuda have announced their dissatisfaction with UK’s decision not to give them a “Whitelist” status, which would if otherwise, permit them to advertise their services to UK’s public.

The statement released by the Antigua and Barbuda government said that officials “expressed surprise at the unexpected announcement by the United Kingdom's Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS)."

The statement also said that Antigua presented "extensive materials" to the DCMS during last year and was "engaged in on-going discussions with DCMS representatives over a very narrow area of disagreement between the two jurisdictions when the announcement was made."

Ms Kaye McDonald, Antigua's Director of Gaming, said this: "Given that we have been working with the DCMS, over the past few months, to sort out our few remaining issues we are somewhat taken back by this announcement."
