Atlantic city begins 12 day smoking Ban

Atlantic city introduces 12 day smoking ban North America isn't well known for its super casino's however the Atlantic City in New Jersey offers visitors a Las Vegas style gambling experience. The huge complex lies just south of New York city on the Eastern coast of America.

Atlantic City has several major casino hot spots as many see the city as an alternative to Las Vegas in the south. The Atlantic City Casino is one of the largest and most popular venues attracting thousands of visitors every day.

Gamblers, however were forced to stub out their cigarettes yesterday as a smoking ban was enforced. One dealer spoke of how refreshing it was to work breathing clean air. "It was one of the greatest nights I've seen in the casino business. I was able to go to work and breathe fresh air," he said.

All major casinos in the area enforced the ban, to the anger and delight of customers. Some complained about not being notified about the ban, one saying,"I was sitting in the smoking section, had the ashtray, and a cleaning guy just came and took it".

Another called Hanley said "I have a feeling they're going to lose even more business. I'm not coming back here if there's no smoking."

It is difficult to tell whether a ban on smoking will affect the casino business, some believing it will attract more players others thinking it deter traditional smoking players.
