11th August, 2008
The usual scene of poker rooms full of tables with cards flying and chips splashing won’t be a thing of the past any time soon, but poker players will have a new alternative when they want to play some poker.
The Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, located just off the Boardwalk, will now feature twelve new automated poker tables where the cards are dealt and the action is carried out electronically. The tables appear much like the traditional poker tables, except players view their cards on little screens and the flop and pot size are displayed in the middle.
“The Poker Room at Trump Plaza will be the latest location for poker buffs to play in Atlantic City, just steps off the Boardwalk,” said Jim Rigot, Trump general manager. “When you consider the increased number of poker hands per hour and a $3.00 rake, it becomes an obvious choice for even the most seasoned players.”
One of the key advantages to the new automated tables is that the play moves much quicker as there will be no stoppage time of the dealer shuffling cards, counting bets or counting the pot size. Everything is done electronically and displayed in clear view for the players.
“We are proud to enter our New Jersey field trial with Trump Plaza, and look forward to introducing the speed, accuracy and cool new features of automated poker to the poker players of Atlantic City,” said Chris Halligan, CEO of PokerTek.
Many are expecting the new tables to draw a diverse crowd of poker players because people who have never played before will be intrigued by the games new look an seasoned players will be attracted by the faster play.
