Betfair invest in ‘common pool betting’

According to an article by eGaming Review, Betfair is branching out to enhance their reputation and provide punters with an even superior betting service. In preparation for next month’s Breeders Cup which will be shown live online. Betfair have signed a deal to allow punters to bet directly into US pools at the same time as watching the action online to make sure they don’t miss a thing.

The aim of the excessive investment will hope to increase the £10.2 million that was bet on the event last year, hoping for nearly double this year, with expectations that a considerable amount of it will come from Europe. Although Betfair will not accept bets from American punters, the aim of the project is to ensure that awareness is built up in preparation for any future plans to allow the gaming world to re enter the US market.

It has been acknowledged that the future of horse racing will depend on international pooling. Chief executive from the Breeders Cup went on to say, “As more and more international horses participate in our championships, interest levels and wagering handle from around the world continue to increase, allowing us to maintain the highest possible purse levels for the event.” It appears Betfair are the first to try this approach and all will tell how successful it was after next month's events.
