Betting Exchange banned in new French Amendment

Betting exchanges such as Betfair face being banned in France along with the new talks involving the liberalisation of gambling by France’s National Assembly.

The vote is to be made today by the French House of Representatives with legislation which would also mean that licensed operators would have to pay 2% of their revenue towards anti corruption measurements in sport.

Operators would also be required to negotiate licenses separately for each sport to which they want to offer bets for thus resulting in betting exchanges which allow punters to play and bet banned from operating in France.

If this proves successful, it could also be mirrored in other nations such as the UK where sporting companies are also lobbying for a similar decision.

If the amendment is a success, it will be placed before the French Senate later this month for a final vote – Bet fair has made clear its scrutiny towards the new legislation.
