Bodog Buy Slots.com

According to an article from eGaming Review, Bodog has been revealed as the buyer of the slots.com domain name which after a highly anticipated auction reached a price of $5.5m (£3.8m) making it one of the most expensive domain name purchases ever.

Calvin Ayre, who is the founder of Bodog, said that he believed the online gaming company now owns two for the most powerful generic online gaming domains.

“After Casino.com, we feel that Slots.com is the best gaming domain in the world. Bigger even than Poker.com because there are no strong brands in this space and slots are far more universal than poker, just look at the amount of space a casino devotes to slots over poker, added to which it's simple to spell and easy to remember."

Eventually, Bodog will licence slots.com to other online gaming operators, “in a fashion similar to the way the Bodog brand itself is currently licensed to gaming operators worldwide.”

Until then, the site will be used to drive traffic towards Bodog branded poker and casino offerings.

Ayre continued: “Slots.com will work for us on a number of levels, not least, in generating global traffic to our Bodog branded properties but also to form a number of other targeted websites including one that will be created by and for the female gambler.”
