Bookies Shorten Odds on Murray to win Wimbledon
22nd June, 2009

Wimbledon fans were shocked to hear this weekend that defending champion and number one seed Rafael Nadal pulled out of this year’s Wimbledon Championships due to injury. Although Andy Murray fans will be glad to hear bookies have shortened odds on the Scot to win.
According to reports Nadal made the decision to pull out of Wimbledon following exhibitions on Thursday and Friday to test the knee.
"I've played with some problems in my knees for a few months but I always felt I'd try and try," added Nadal. "You don't know what your limit is, but I have now reached the limit."
The withdraw means that both world number two Roger Federer, and British number one Andy Murray will have a stronger chance of winning the 2009 title.
Online bookies have now shortened odds on Roger Feder to win making him 8/11 at Blue square and Coral. While Andy Murray is now a strong second favourite priced at 7/4 with Bet 365.
Roger Federer starts the Championship proceedings today on Centre Court at 1pm.
