Bookies hold bets on this years Miss World

Betting on Miss World?

When most of us think of betting, we might associate it with the dogs, horse racing or maybe even football.

However the world of betting has diversified and these days anyone can bet on almost anything; which of Barak Obama's daughters is most likely to be US President, reality TV, whether or not God exists and more recently, Bet365 have started placing odds on who will be Miss World 2008.

Miss World was created by Eric Morley in 1951 during the Festival of Britain celebrations and was originally known as the Festival Bikini Contest. It would later be dubbed Miss World by the British media.

Though it was only supposed to be a one off event, the Miss World beauty pageant became Eric's life work and is still going strong to this day attracting young women from all over the world, desperate to represent their country and be crowned the next Miss World.

For some women, being crowned Miss World can improve and change their lives forever.

This year, Bet365 have given the strongest odds to Miss Russia 3/1, followed by Miss Mexico, Miss Spain and Miss Ukraine all with odds of 6/1.

Unfortunately, Miss England 80/1, Miss Scotland 100/1, Miss Ireland 125/1 and Miss Wales 250/1 have some of the lowest odds making it is extremely unlikely that they will be crowned Miss World 2008.
