Camelot seeks new tax rate
19th September, 2007
Currently Camelot is taxed 12p on every ticket sold at £1.
The firm wants to be charged in the same way as book makers - 24% on gross profits. Pricewaterhouse Coopers have been hired to write a report on how a change in the tax level would increase ticket sales and raise more money for good causes.
The report will demonstrate that the Treasury will not lose out with Camelot making up the shortfall of £14 million by 2012.
The move is said to be beneficial to all - Governemt, consumer and Operator.
