Canadian Politician saved online Gambling Industry

14th December, 2007

Online gambling in Canada could have had made illegal if the Canadian politician did not find a paragraph in the Canadian government's latest 'housekeeping' bill which stated that the online gambling is going to become unlawful.

Online bingo halls already suffered the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) in the US last year, so now thanks to senator George Baker, they will get their lucky break at last, as otherwise the likely scenario would be the elimination of the halls altogether.

George Baker had this to say on the matter: "There is a big market for internet gambling in Canada. Online poker is huge. This bill will end that, and that has not been brought up by anyone."
