Charles Barkley Promises to Stop Gambling
20th May, 2008
Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley has made an announcement stating that he will not gamble any more. Barkley has been numerously criticised for his gambling habits and the huge debt to Las Vegas Casino of $400,000.
Here is what the famous sportsman had to say about this on the Turner Network Television before the Spurs-Hornets Game 7 of their Western Conference semifinal series: "I gamble probably once every two or three weeks to a month. It's not like I'm going every day. It's not like I get up and look at the line in sporting events. I like to go to Vegas. It's a fun place, but you know what, I've got to stop gambling."
After the casino filed a civil complaint against Barkley, 45, he has admitted to paying the Wynn Las Vegas resort, and is not making his intentions to stop gambling public. He has nevertheless, left himself a room for change of heart in the future, as he clearly did not want to make this promise for life.
"I am not going to gamble anymore. For right now, the next year or two, I'm not going to gamble," said Barkley. "It was my fault. To me it's over with. This will never happen, but the bottom line is I'm just never going to gamble again," he added, making it clear after that he is not in any sort of money problems at the moment.
