Chris Ferguson final table's event 3 of the WSOPE

26th September, 2008

ALT Text Goes Here Event 3 of the World Series of Poker Europe, the £5,000 buy in pot limit Omaha tournament, is now down to the final table and the way things have been going it’s still anyone’s game to win.

One of the biggest names in the poker world, Chris “Jesus” Ferguson, is still in the running for the bracelet at the huge first-place payout. At this point in the tournament, and given Ferguson’s chip count, it would be a disappointment to bust out early in the final table.

Currently, Ferguson is fifth in chips at 282,000 going into the last day of the tournament, which is relatively small compared to the first-place chip holder. Right now it is Theo Jorgensen out in front with 897,000 in chips. In last place is Max Pescatori, with 126,000.

The winner of the tournament will receive the coveted WSOP gold bracelet along with £218,626 for their efforts, which is a hefty payout considering that ninth place will receive £22,688.

Two events have already played out and awarded two top poker players with a gold bracelet. The previous events were the £1,500 buy in no limit hold’em tournament, which awarded the first-place finisher more than £144,000, and a £2,500 HORSE tournament that paid out £76,999 to the winner.

We’ve seen a lot of great poker over the past week but everything is really expected to come to a head this weekend at the main event tournament. This event is the culmination of the entire series, which is a £10,000 no limit hold’em tournament. Last year’s winner was awarded £1,000,000 and made WSOP history because it was the first main event won by a woman – and the fact that she was 18 made the feat even that much more incredible.

The sponsor of this year’s World Series of Poker Europe is Betfair Poker. They offer satellite tournaments to the event and will do so again next year.
