Coverage gained through national poker week
28th July, 2009

The movement in the US to legalize and regulate online poker seems to be gaining velocity as time passes. Last week’s national Poker week rally, which was sponsored by the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) may not have had an effect on the political mindset, but it certainly managed to stir up some media coverage towards their cause.
Online Poker is considered illegal in many states across the USA, being classed in the same category as gambling – however the movement in order to legalise online poker argues that Poker is a game of skill, rather than luck, therefore separating it from gambling.
There are also other large campaigns in order to attempt to raise awareness and eventually legalize online poker. Gaming Alerts covered a story earlier this month involving an online petition directed at Obama, which had surpassed 300,000 signatures.
The drive to make online poker legal within the USA is well underway, updates will be covered as soon as we get them.
