Kentucky Court overrule domain name case

The Kentucky state government last year purchased 141 separate gambling related domain names in an attempt to stop online gaming firms from operating betting, poker or casino sites in the region.

They claimed that the move would stop unregulated, unlicensed illegal gaming sites operating within the state.

The Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association (IMEGA) have supported the courts ruling claiming, “We are very happy with the court’s ruling today. The judges clearly agreed with our interpretation of the law, and thankfully, this reverses what would have been a terrible precedent for our country and the Internet.”

Domain names for Full Tilt Poker, Absolute Poker and Bodog were all seized by the State government.

New President Obama may well legalize online gaming in a bid to boost the economey, as currently citizens are not allowed to deposit money on sites which provide gambling services.
