The EU has called for the USA to drop its ban on online gambling. The EU has been urging talks with the US, as they claim that the ban breaks global trade laws. It has been reported that the EU may even seek compensation from the World Trade Organisation as the ban unfairly prevents US players from playing at foreign sites.

There’s hope that Obama’s Democratic administration may be more willing to amend the law, whereas ex President Bush stood strong.

The ban has affected British operators’ Party gaming and sporting bet from utilising the potentially lucrative US market, leading them to lose revenue and stock market value.

US gambling operators, however, are allowed to offer internet gambling to Europeans according to European law. They do not practice this right as US legislation means that they could violate federal law and thus be sent to prison.
