Felipe Massa is back on track

Massa suffered from severe injuries after crashing into a tyre wall when a spring from Rubens Barrichello’s car came loose causing it to fly off hitting Massa’s helmet in the Hungarian Grand Prix. The impact of the spring hitting the helmet knocked him out and he was later put in an induced coma in hospital and was reported to be in a critical condition. However, it seems that his critical condition that he was in 9 weeks ago has not knocked his confidence and he is back behind the wheel, even if the wheel is a Go Kart for now!

The driver has shocked both his team and his medical team with his speedy recovery and determination to get back on the racing track. To ensure he was still fit to race he drove 8 laps in a Kart Race in Brazil and did it with ease, suffering no discomfort which is reassuring for him and his team mates!

To get back into the competitive racing spirit, the 28 year old is going to take part in a Kart race in November to begin to help him prepare for returning to the Formula One. Massa hopes to be racing in the Formula One next year but has to have one more operation to his skull first, so his return depends on his recovery from the operation. Massa and his family are thankful that no permanent damage was caused to his eye and are excited to see him back doing what he does best!
