Ferguson Chelsea larger threat than Liverpool for the Premier League title

Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson thinks that Chelsea will be the biggest danger to their title rather than Liverpool.

The Scotsman, who is chasing a fourth consecutive Premier League title, argues that even though the Reds from Merseyside pushed them all the way last season, they will struggle to sustain a serious challenge.

Ferguson told The Sun. "It will be hard for them to match last season, let alone improve on it. Other teams will know more about them... Liverpool had probably their best season for 20 years and still finished four points adrift. It has to be Chelsea as the main threat. Ancelotti will change how they play."

Other managers in the Premier League could argue that United are not the same force as they were last year after the departures of star players Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez. Sir Alex has been quick to point out that there is still plenty of talent coming through the ranks at Old Trafford and said that "We are expecting a lot from (Jonny) Evans, (Danny) Welbeck, (Darron) Gibson, (Federico) Macheda and the Da Silva brothers.”

In another warning to his rivals, the United manager has stressed that the option to spend heavily in this summer's transfer window was still an option. Ferguson has funds at his disposal after receiving £80m for the world record transfer of Ronaldo to Real Madrid. However, the boss said that if he does purchase players he wants value for money.

He told United Review "What you must remember is that we are working from a position of strength. "We don't suddenly have to splash out to try and compete at the top."

With Bet 365 and Betclick Manchester United and Chelsea are both 2/1 to win this seasons Premier League title. Liverpool is 3/1.
