Fish Farmer wins Welsh leg of Sky Poker UK Tour

Sky Poker the leading multiplatform poker room announced the winner of the fifth leg in its live UK poker tour today.

The tournament was held on Saturday at the Aspers casino in Swansea, Wales, and saw 109 players participate for the £1800 top prize and a place in the Grand Finale of the Sky Poker UK Tour. The final is scheduled for the 13th and 14th of June at the Dusk Till Dawn casino in Nottingham, with a guaranteed prize pool of £25,000.

At 1.00am on Sunday morning the action at the Aspers climaxed when fish farmer Aaron Hopkins (AKA RONMCDON) won the final hand with A-10.

Speaking after his win Mr Hopkins said, “There was a little bit of luck involved but I just went for it and came out the winner. I had actually only played in six live events before, including the Sky Poker Bootcamp in Bristol last year. I usually play online at Sky Poker as I like to watch the play on TV.”

One of the competitors that Mr Hopkins beat on his way to the final table was his semi-professional wife Naomi, who he later confessed as being a better player than him.

Sky Poker players are still able to qualify for the Grand Final by playing in one of the satellite tournaments held on Sundays at 7pm.
