France to legalise online gaming?

16th November, 2007

The head of bookmaker Bwin said that more European countries were on a path to legalise online gaming - which would put an end to all of the uncertainty surrounding the legality of the industry in Europe. At the moment, it is illegal in countries such as France and these laws seem to contradict EU laws.

Companies such as Bwin are lobbying the European Governments to keep lotteries as state run, but to open up online gaming in poker, sports and casino to all operators so to create fair competition.

They are looking for solutions such as was found by the UK government.
