Full Tilt Poker world record breaking attempt
16th July, 2009
Full Tilt Poker announced today that they will be attempting to break the world record for the largest ever online poker tournament, hoping to attract over 35,000 players to their virtual tables on the 19th July.
The event was unveiled as the finale to their week long tournament event & promotions celebrating Full Tilt’s fifth birthday. Full tilt launched five years ago with the aim of creating the best online poker experience and service available on the internet, and if they succeed with their record breaking attempt, they may get closer to that goal.
Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson & Phil Ivey, Full Tilt members and bracelet winners are expected to be getting involved with the event, offering the players the chance to play with some of the worlds highest stake players.
An event like this would be impossible to run on land, with the highest ever land based poker tournament record being held by the 2006 WSOP, totalling 8772 players. If Full Tilt are to break the record, they will need to attract four times the land based record holding event to their online live tables.
