Gala Poker tour Cancelled
4th February, 2009
There's only a few British poker tours taking place this year but the GCBPT has been cancelled. Gala claim they will be holding more online satellite games to keep players happy, however the GCBPT is widely regarded as the biggest and best live poker tour in the UK.
The tour regularly attracts some of the best professional British players as well as up and coming amateurs. Many believe the economic recession is a major reason for the series being cancelled .
Mark O’Donnell, GCBPT’s Tour Manager said: "While we’ve have had two fantastic years running the ‘Great British Poker Tours’, we’ve now decided to look at a number of new events and promotions for 2009 that will not only excite our players but are of great value and are accessible to poker players of all levels.”
O'Donnell went onto say, "Through our poker websites we are already planning to run more satellites than ever to the world’s biggest poker tournaments including European Poker Tour (EPT), World Series of Poker (WSOP) and Aussie Millions,”
Gala will now hold a series of guaranteed Jackpot games, at their three poker rooms, with a combined pot prize of $14 million.
