Gala cut 300 jobs!

The owner of Gala Coral who owns Coral bookmakers and Gala bingo and casino is cutting 300 jobs as a result of shutting another 5 bingo clubs! The company has reorganised itself and increased its efficiency meaning over 180 administrative jobs have been cut which includes both finance and marketing positions.
The redundancies are due to some changes made last November. Gala Coral reduced 5 operating divisions into 3 to enable functions to run centrally. The careful consideration of reconstruction aims to save approximately £10m a year and hopes to still achieve similar upfront costs.
A further 100 jobs are at risk after the closing of bingo clubs in areas such as Hull and Aldrige. A spokesperson from Gala Coral said that the closures were “directly related to the Government’s decision to increase tax on the bingo industry from 15% to 22%”.
