Gaming Alerts interview with Michael Casselli Poker in the Park 09
17th August, 2009
On Friday 14th August 2009, the Gaming Alerts team headed down to Leicester Square to attend this year’s Poker in the Park festivities!
Whilst in attendance, we had the opportunity to speak to the Editor and Chief of Bluff Magazine Europe, and the organizer of Poker in the Park, Michael Caselli about the event both past, present and future.
Michael stated that the PitP 2009 event was the best year it has experienced so far, with people queuing to get in from the start and having over 300 people instantly attending, whilst seeing over 15,000 people attending throughout the two days.
Casselli stated that the choice of Leicester Square as the venue was obvious, calling it the ‘center of the universe!’ – the best place to attract the city boys who like to play poker as a leisure activity after work, and an accessible & well known destination for other people too.
We asked Michael about how the event had changed from previous years, and he commented saying that there have been 6 more booths than last year, the amount of people has been overwhelming, and that they had given away over 3,000 magazines, and also raising over £17,000 for the Jamie Gold foundation.
As for future prospects, Casselli told Gaming Alerts that he’d like to have online casino operators more involved in the future, with lots of operators seeking ways to get involved with Poker in the Park.
