Gaming Revenue in Asia to overtake that of the US by 2012

9th June, 2008

A recent survey by the American Gambling Association has told how gaming revenues in Asia should surpass that of the USA within four years.

We have already seen the rapidly expanding casino city Macau overtake the Las Vegas strip in terms of gaming revenue, with it widely expected to remain being the market leader for a considerable amount of time. US casinos are currently making around $34billions US dollars, whilst their Asian counterparts bring in close to $20billion US dollars.

Macau hosted the Asia gaming expo a week ago, where some potential future problems were highlighted. Rising costs of labour around the area and infrastructure obstacles could inhibit the future growth.

With more casinos being erected in a number of Asian countries such as Japan and Singapore, the survey says growth is expected to increase even further.
