Good news for Gambling Industry
12th January, 2009
The times online this last week reveled that UK gaming enthusiasts will be able to bet and win more whilst playing Slot machines in pubs a clubs around Britain. The maximum amount staked will now be doubled from 50p to £1.
The surprise move comes only days after Culture Secretary Andy Burnham claimed to have lost his patience with the industry after they feel short of levy donations made to the RIGT.
Gaming bosses however will greet the good news which comes at a difficult time when the industry is seeing net revenues fall in recent months. In spite of this not all have agreed with the move.
Methodist Church spokeswomen Anna Drew, said in a statement, "We would be concerned that any increase in stakes and prize limits might be likely to increase the amount that people risk and the amount they would want to chase"
Many are also surprised with this legislative move after Prime Minster Gordon Brown ruled out the proposition for super casino complexes in Manchester and the around the UK.
With around 80,000 slot machines in the UK this new ruling will have a major affect on revenue's created by gaming brands.
