Google allow paid Search engine advertisements
27th October, 2008
Google is used by millions around the globe to search for images, maps, new articles, press releases, shopping and email.
The brand has become infamous throughout the world for providing accurate and relative results for key word searches but has also been criticized for its policy on Privacy of personal information and lack of censorship.
The brand allows most industries to advertise on their search engine pages, however has only recently allowed online gaming companies to do so. This has resulted in a scramble for the top places on key word searches such as online gambling, online poker, online casino and online bingo.
Robert Allan, online marketing manager for Ladbrokes Poker said in a statement “All gambling companies, which have a set budget for pay-to-click advertising, have now got to decide whether to take away 80% of the money currently allocated to MSN and Yahoo and spend that on Google"
"Or retain that spend on MSN and Yahoo and ask for a substantial increase in the overall budget in accordance with Google’s market share"
He went onto add,"Google is also going to be comparatively more expensive than MSN and Yahoo, as more sites are going to want to appear higher up at Google, because there are so many more clients you can get from it,” he added.
Allowing online search engine advertisements on Google will increase traffic for operators and continue aiding the growth of the UK online gaming industry.
