Greenpeace Wants Game Consoles Green

13th December, 2007

The biggest environmental group, Greenpeace, is trying to get gamers to voice their opinions to force gaming giants Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft to make their game consoles "greener".

Greenpeace claims that game console manufacturers "failed to reduce the toxic burden of their products". The group blames the three gaming corporations for hiding behind the mobile phone and PC manufacturers.

This is just a part of the campaign Greenpeace has developed to try and make electronic industry "greener".

Greenpeace International's toxics campaigner, Zenia Al Hajj, explains: "Game console manufacturers are lagging way behind the makers of mobile phones and PCs who have been reducing the toxic load of the products over the past year. Game consoles contain many of the same components as PCs so manufacturers can do a lot more."
