Hollywood puts Online Poker on the Big Screen
16th June, 2009
Online Poker in the US has a lot of support among the general public. Many simply want to play the game, while others are hoping a reversal in current laws will lead to a new career path.
If rumours are to be believed it seems Hollywood also back the controversial game. It was announced that Hollywood star Leonardo Di Caprio is set to showcase the world of online poker in a new film.
The 34 year old ‘Catch Me if You Can’ actor is supposedly in discussions with Paramount over an untitled pitch from Brain Koppelman and David Levien and is reportedly very keen to play the lead role. Both Koppelman and Levien are some of the minds behind blockbusters Ocean’s Thirteen and Rounders.
Some Hollywood insiders have suggested that the proposed film could be the long awaited sequel to the popular poker film Rounders.
It has not yet been revealed officially as to who will direct the film, although according to Variety, Leonardo Di Caprio’s company Appian Way will produce the film, which is scheduled to be based in Costa Rica.
