Italian Online Bingo Legalised

eGaming Review has reported that online bingo sites in Italy are now legal again after a regional court’s decision to suspend laws that regulate the game.
Online bingo games were launched in Italy at the end of December 2009, but shortly afterwards were suspended when the administrative court of the Lazio region ruled that the approval of the decrees regulating online bingo were not compliant with the rules and regulations required by Italian law and so cancelled the decree.
However, the Administrative Court of Appeal has now ordered the suspension of the Administrative Court of Lazio’s decision; this means that online gambling operators can continue to offer bingo.
Operators that will be happy with this news include Playtech who revealed that they will begin to target bingo in Italy after buying bingo provider Virtue Fusion last month. Additionally, Playtech look set to enter the market after acquiring bingo operator Cashcade in 2009. Virgin Games will also utilize its current strong brand presence in the country and enter the Italian market with their games offering after the announcement.
