Lack of Trust in Online Poker?
16th February, 2009
The global internet poker boom has resulted in millions taking part in games. Operators such as Party Poker, Full Tilt and 888 poker have seen immense success in recent years, with millions, who before didn't have access to poker gaming, now being able to play online.
The web has revolutionized poker gaming making it accessible to anyone with a internet connection.
In spite of this poker boom, many who play online, still don't fully trust the operators they use. Cards are dealt automatically by a computer which randomly generates the results, yet research recently published by mobile gaming firm Probability, claims that 50% still mistrust online poker sites.
33% of the 2,500 respondents didn't trust the way cards were dealt, others were concerned with the regulations put in place or the software bots used by many sites.
Chief executive of Probability, Charles Cohen, said “We don’t have any axe to grind on this issue. In fact, the reverse is true - a healthy poker industry is good for us because the more people who are comfortable with playing remote poker the more business there is for us to shoot for."
Cohen went onto add, “Some 50 per cent of players surveyed by the Great British Poker Survey said they did not trust the online poker sites. A third said they did not trust them at all. Those figures are striking and came as a surprise even to us. There is clearly an issue here that the industry needs to address.”
