Ladbrokes Back NSPCC Appeal

Ladbrokes the popular bookmaker are backing the NSPCC from the 26thNovember to 3rd December. Across the UK in its 2,500 branches the bookies has pledged to create awareness and fundraise for the Children’s Charity.
All the money donated will benefit the Child’s Voice Appeal, which aims to raise £50 million to develop the NSPCC help-lines, text and online counselling including ChildLine.
Each of the many Ladbroke shops will be running their own activities throughout the week, encouraging staff and customers alike to support the NSPCC through campaigning, volunteering and fundraising.
The senior development manager of the NSPCC Sophie Moss said, “it’s a tragedy when a vulnerable child summons up the courage to phone ChildLine, but can’t get through to speak to someone.” Ladbrokes’ donations will fund the training of 62 volunteer counsellors who will answer 25,000 more calls to ChildLine from children.
Mike O’Kane, Ladbrokes operations director said, “Ladbrokes has pledged to raise a minimum of £100,000, any more that is raised by our staff and customers will also be donated to the NSPCC . Ladbrokes recognises the importance of the NSPCC’s work and is pleased to help with its vital Child’s Voice Appeal.”
£800,000 is the amount Ladbrokes has donated so far to the charity since supported to started in 2001.
