Ladbrokes Reval New Chief Executive

According to an article in the Financial Times, one of the UK’s largest bookmakers, Ladbrokes, is set to offer Richard Glynn, the current chairman of Sporting index, the role of Chief Executive.

It is understood that the 45 year old is finalizing details of his new contract with the sportsbook and if there are no last minute hitches there should be an announcement of his appointment made early this week.

He will be taking the position of Chris Bell who has decided to step down from the job after spending 20 years with the group.

Chief Executive of Easyjet, Andy Harrison, was also tipped for the job at Ladbrokes however he has decided to join Whitbread, owner of Premier Inn hotels and Costa Coffee instead.

Richard Glynn will be joining Ladbrokes at a crucial moment as the company was hit by a series of poor betting results last year and are facing growing competition from other online gaming operators.

Mr Glynn hasn’t run a company of Labrokes size before, however his vast knowledge of the online betting markets is a regarded as a huge asset to the company aiding the company’s desire to strengthen their online offerings.

Christopher Bell’s replacement is expected to stay in the loop over the much anticipated round of consolidation in online gambling, with new markets in Europe opening up. For example, Ladbrokes has shown their intentions to enter the Italian market with their online poker product.
