19th February, 2009
With a strong performance from its online business and gaming terminals, Ladbrokes has done better than analysts expected them to.
Although profit before tax in 2008 declined to £250.2m from £345.2m, Ladbrokes were still ahead of expectations by about £35m.
Ladbrokes online businesses had a good year with net gaming revenue up by a fifth to £172.2m. The company said that the success on the e-Gaming division was a due to a combination of new customer acquisition initiatives, including TV advertising for Ladbrokes Bingo and Casino.
“eGaming has made a good start to the year with continuing growth in net gaming revenue and the successful migration onto the Microgaming poker network last week,” the company said.
