Land based Casinos Boom in USA
13th November, 2007
The eleven states in the USA which allow land based casinos report tax revenues of over $5 Billion.
Very few people have reason to complain about the growth of casinos. They bring in great revenues for the state, entertainment, jobs and tourism. In the ten years between 1995 and 2005 gaming revenue has almost doubled from $45.1 billion to $84.7 billion.
People are betting at tables, lotteries and legal sportsbetting. The craze is showing no signs of dying down and slot machines can be found at airports and bars as well.
Statistcis have shown that 75% of all Americans live within driving distance of a casino.
The only Americasn states that have yet to legalise any kind of gambling are Utah, a very religious state and Hawaii.
There are concerns as Chicago prepares to welcome its first land based casino to its city that originality and culture of these cities are being lost as they try and emulate Las Vegas with glitz and glamour of casinos. They have yet to find a balance between the two.
