Earth hour took place last week with many of the worlds most iconic areas and buildings turning out their lights to save energy. Buildings such as the Houses of Parliament in London, and the Eiffel tower in Paris turned turned of their bright lights as Boulevard street in Las Vegas.
During 8:30 and 9:30 the road was plunged into darkness as the casino lights we turned off. Vegas is one of the flagship citiesr for the World Wildlife Foundation's blackout. Famous casino buildings including the Flamingo and Cesar Palace turned off their power but keep lights on in hotel rooms for customers.
Annamarie Cavalli, who lives in Las Vegas said, "I'm impressed, It's pretty drastic. I think it's cool all these places participated. And it's the only time locals like me will be down here."
Some visitors who were unaware of earth hour were confused with the power cut. Jeff Braughton who was travelling through the city said, "As we drove past the Rio I thought it must have gone out of business."
