Las Vegas casinos take measures to attract more business.
12th February, 2009
The Nevada gaming industry has been hit hard by the economic recession. It is reported that casino revenues are down by 10% this year compared to last year, which is the first reported successive downturn in casino revenues.
Due to the negative impact of the recession on the industry, casino operators in Las Vegas have been forced to dramatically cut prices in an effort to buck the trend. It is reported that with the combined effort of slashing hotel prices, and introducing more upgrades and meal deals, Las Vegas will become a more economically friendly holiday destination.
Duncan Bureau of WestJet Vacations said “I think Las Vegas provides a great deal of value, especially if you’re looking at a four or five day getaway”. “It certainly is a market that is great for deals”.
As well as cutting hotel and food prices, casinos are also inviting gamblers to sign up for free player reward cards which offers various special deals and promotions. Signing up for one of the cards can get you a free buffet or slot play- it varies depending on which casino you are playing in.
Casino operators in Las Vegas are hoping the price cuts will open up the tourist market to those looking for economical, value for money holidays.
