Legal EU Online Gambling in Spain
30th July, 2009

Two Spanish groups of industry operators and government have come together in order to create a five year licensing agreement which will regulate gambling sites in order to make them comply with EU regulations, and help to create an online gambling industry.
The Spanish online gambling industry makes over $50 million in bets every year, and many EU operators are excited to be able to tap into the newly regulated Spanish gambling industry to make their name known.
The licences are set to run for five years, with the potential renewal for a further five years, pending the success of the licensing agreement.
Online Casino Operators such as William Hill have already set their sights on the market, and if the scenario plays out like it did when Italy did the same, the arrangement could prove beneficial for both the EU and Spain, as more trusted operators will be setting up shop within the market, providing a healthy and safe online gambling environment.
To mark the occasion there will be an conference held to prepare EU operators for the new licensing, it will be called 'iGB Espana' and will be held in Madrid in October of this year.
