Macau Poker festival to be the setting for Asian movie
21st July, 2009

The Macau poker festival held in august is planned to be the setting for a poker movie which is hoped to raise awareness and make poker popular within Asian society.
The cast is set to be constructed of A-list celebrities, pop singers and actors from the Asian entertainment world, directed by Chang Hing Kai & Janet Chung, directors renowned for their Chinese language directing.
The hope is that the release of the film in conjunction with the Macau poker festival will raise awareness for Poker within Asia, as the 1998 Hollywood blockbuster ‘Rounders’ did for the west.
Tom Hall, the chief executive of Asianlogic has said that he would like to see the film have a quadruple the effect than the impact that ‘Rounders’ had in the western world.
Also, by using the popular online video game World of Warcraft, he intends to generate positive word of mouth and cash prizes to attempt to convert some of these video game players to online poker.
The festival will take place from the 12th to the 23rd of August 2009 at the Galaxy Starworld in Macau.
