Man U celebrate with a casino Christmas

3rd December, 2007

Manchester United have organised a huge Christmas party in the city's new 235 Casino – where the club's millionaire players look set to splash thousands of pounds on roulette, blackjack and poker, it has been reported.

The football team's annual knees-up has been planned by defender Rio Ferdinand, who has asked his team mates to donate £4,000 each towards organising the event.

According to the Mirror, the players are planning to start the evening at popular celebrity haunt the Living Room before heading over to 235 Casino – which is believed to be closed to the public for three hours while the team is there.

A source at Old Trafford told the newspaper: "The lads are so high profile they need to enjoy themselves in relatively private surroundings.

"They had such a good time at last year's party they decided on something similar this year. The day chosen gives them a week to get ready for their next game."

235 Casino, which opened in October, houses 14 roulette tables, ten blackjack tables and six three-card poker tables.

The £13 million, 46,000 sq ft venue is based in the Great Northern Warehouse and aims to attract women, tourists and business travellers as well as traditional gambling types.
