Mixing it up at the WSOPE

30th September, 2008

ALT Text Goes Here As the blinds continue to increase in the World Series of Poker Europe main event, which is a £10,000 no limit Texas hold’em tournament, the names at the top of the list on the leader board keep shuffling like the decks themselves.

When the stakes raise, players are forced into the action or else they will be blinded off, which means people will be dropping like flies and stacks will be building like mountains. Currently it is Andy Bloch that leads the field at one of the biggest poker tournaments in the world, at least part of the most prestigious series of tournaments, the WSOP.

For a time it was Daniel Negreanu who was leading the pack with 250,000, but now it is Bloch with 321,600. Negreanu is not doing bad though, as he currently sits with 203,700, which means only one thing – that he hasn’t been getting the cards and has just been doing a lot of waiting, playing patient poker.

There are only 85 players left in the tournament and will play down to 27 today when the players reconvene at 1 pm. Once down to 27, the tournament will then be brought down to the final nine players, the final table, on Wednesday. The final table will then be played out on Thursday and run until a winner emerges.

The tournament began with 363 players and will award the top 36 finishers with at least £25,340. First place will win £868,800 for their efforts, along with the coveted WSOP gold bracelet, which everyone has their eye on.

This is the fourth and final event of the 2008 World Series of Poker Europe, which is being held at the Casino at the Empire in Leicester Square, which is one of the more world-famous locations in London.
