We increasingly make the assertion that betting is changing. What we mean by this is that betting is expanding- bets are no longer limited to sports or the races. These days, betting seems to encompass all areas of public life and interest. In light of the fact that novelty bets are becoming increasingly more popular, we have selected a few to show you how diverse and random (in some cases) they can be:
OBAMA: Now that he has been sworn in, all eyes are on Obama and the changes he will try to enforce as president of the United States. On the Paddy Power website we found a bet that might interest political enthusiasts:
What is mostly likely to happen first? (* must be signed into law) : Full Troop withdrawal from Iraq 2/5; Legalisation of Marijuana * 12/1; Total ban of Capital Punishment * 20/1; Capture of Osama Bin Laden 6/1; Full Troop withdrawal from Afghanistan 12/1; Online Gambling legalised * 6/1; Full National recognition of Same Sex Marriage * 7/1
OSCARS: (betfred) Best Actor: winner: Mickey Rourke: 5/6; Sean Penn: 13/8; Frank Langella: 13/2; Brad Pitt: 12/1; Richard Jenkins: 20/1
Best Actress: winner: Kate Winslet: 10/11; Anne Hathaway: 2/1; Meryl Streep: 4/1; Angelina Jolie: 14/1; Melissa Leo: 16/1
WALKERS CRISPS: (paddy power): Whilst some might realise the betting potential of the Oscars, we are fairly confident that no one would have see this bet coming, so to speak: What will be the next flavour of Walkers crisps?:
Onion Bhaji: 11/10; Fish & Chips: 3/1; Builder's Breakfast: 4/1; Cajun Squirrel: 8/1; Crispy Duck & Hoisin: 8/1; Chilli & Chocolate: 12/1
So, next time you feel like placing a bet, consider your options, because when it comes to bets, you have plenty of them.
