Ohio votes against Casino plans Ohio is a state which lies in the mid east region of the United States and was at the center of the US Presidential election which was won by Democrat Barack Obama on Wednesday morning.

The state was seen as key for both parties who saw the state as vital to winning the election. It swung in the favor of Obama who went on to claim victory by a huge Margin. Those living in Ohio have also been voting on the proposed plans for building a new $600 million casino.

Voters turned out in their thousands to vote against the plans which have been turned down by locals on four occasions since 1990.

The gambling issue was defeated 63 percent to 37 percent with 93 percent of the vote counted.

The vote shows once again that Gambling is strongly opposed in Ohio and that residents will not allow a casino to be built.

US state laws allows for some to regions to allow super casino's and gambling locations and others not. Las Vegas is a prime example of how gambling can produce a successful flourishing local economey. However in the current global economic crisis many are aware of the business risks involved in new high costing ventures.
