One Lucky Paddy Power Punter
11th March, 2009

Hailed as the world’s biggest Horse racing festival, the Cheltenham Festival began yesterday. It seems even with the world’s economic state looking uncertain customers were resilient.
For one lucky Paddy Power punter from Cork being resilient and betting at Cheltenham turned out to be a good thing as she came away over €130,000 up.
It’s difficult enough to pick a winner at Cheltenham, but it is unbelievable to pick four in a row on the opening day. However , this is exactly what one lucky winner did yesterday, after wagering €6 each way. Her winning streak got off to a great start when 12/1 ‘Go Native’ won the Supreme Novice Hurdle, and culminated with outsider Punjabi holding off favourite Binocular in the Champion Hurdle at odds of 25/1.
A Paddy Power spokesman said, “Getting one winner at the Festival is good going but getting the opening four in a row is the stuff of legend. I’m backing whatever she is tomorrow!”
Today all eyes will be on hot favourite Master Minded in the ‘Queen Mother Champion Chase’ who runs at 15.20. Paddy Power has him at 4/11.
