Online Betting odds for the Boat Race
26th March, 2009
The Cambridge vs Oxford boat race is one of the worlds most famous and historic sporting events. The first race was way back in 1829 when two rival students challenged each other to a race down the Thames river in London.
The event has taken place every year since, apart from the during the two world wars, and is regarded as one of the finest British sporting traditions. The fierce rivalry continues to the present day and the race is watched by millions in the UK and around the world.
Online sports bookies are offering some competitive odds on the race, which takes place this Sunday. Here's a look at some of the prices available to punters:
Oxford favourites at 1/3 with Paddy Power - Oxford won comfortably in 2008 and have a very strong crew again this year. Even though they are set to be the heaviest crew to ever take part in the race, they will have enormous amounts of power.
Cambridge are the underdogs priced at 9/4 with Bet 365. Even though they lost last year, they lead the scores by 79-74 over their Oxford rivals. They will be hoping to extend this lead.
Ladbrokes price both boats sinking at 20/1, but this is unlikely as weather is predicted to be sunny and clam for Sunday. Our tip would be to go with Oxford, at 1/3 with Paddy Power. They have a very powerful team which easily beat Cambridge last year. They have the speed and as long as the weather stays decent, should win comfortably.
