Online Betting on 2009 Ashes Second Test
13th July, 2009
Yesterday’s end to the first test of the 2009 Ashes Test Series was a “real nail biter” of an affair.
After having got off to a great Start in the first innings posting 435 all-out, England’s cricketers soon found themselves in a difficult situation on Saturday (day 4). At 74 for 5, England were starring deafeat in the face and bookies predictions of an Australian win were almost certain.
However a heroic effort from former captain Paul Collingwood saw the host, in with a chance of securing a draw escaping defeat.
Australia had been 5/2 and 2/1 favourites to win, but as the last over of day five and the test drew closer the likelihood of a win shrank.
Despite having saved the first test online bookies, don’t believe England’s performance showed much promise and price the hosts at 10/3 under dogs going into Thursdays Second test at Lords.
Bookies have also shortened odds on the Aussies ahead of Thursday’s test match making them 13/8 favourites produce a similar performance and win their first test.
